Delayed.....

So if the post title did not lend itself to the subject of this post, I am currently delayed 5.5 hours at the Philadelphia airport. I guess the thought of a new opportunity and a new challenging position got the better of me and I completely forgot how much this airport sucks. I will say though I have not gotten upset, ticked off, or sworn during this little ordeal. The delay is weather related and well only God can control that so it does me no good to get upset.....I know I won't get home any faster.

Well after that little lead in I will attempt to recap the past 2-3 months since its been that long since I've last updated my blog. The past few months have literally been a flurry of activity and my life seems to be going at 90 mph at all times, even at night. I moved into a new apartment at the beginning of May. I decided to change neighborhoods and look for something that's a bit bigger, has 2 BR and 1 bathroom and with a parking spot if available. I searched for a couple of weeks with a realtor and found a place I really liked. The floors were just re-done, the paint was perfectly neutral, bedrooms were great and then....................I saw the kitchen. Flower borders, pink and purple paint, it was just terrible. I wanted the place right then and there until I saw the kitchen, and I was so disappointed. While the kitchen is dated it was defintley doable for a rental property but the paint and the wallpaper I found out I was not allowed to change, so the search continued. A few more weeks of searching and being disappointed with the MLS and craigslist, I called my agent and had her contact the owners one more time, pulled out some stops by signing a 2 year lease, took the garage spot and said I'd do the kitchen at my cost. They relented and rented me the place!!!! I am still working on getting settled in since my job and life have kept me busy. This weekend is wedding #2 of the summer already, but the bright side is that I am done after this weekend. I keep thinking that I have to go to every wedding I am invited to and I just can't do it anymore.

In addition to finding a new place to live, which was a huge blessing and answer to prayer, I started a new position with my company. I was approached about doing an interim position in West Chester, PA and after interviewing and hearing more about the business and seeing the opprotunity I decided to give it a shot. I am currently traveling back and forth each week from Chicago to Philly and working as the Plant Controller for a company called IONX which deals in Railway telematics; basically GPS tracking devices for rail cars and train locomotives. I've only been on the job for about 2 weeks but so far things have been going pretty well, but I still have a lot to learn. I am not really sure what my next move will be after this but I trust that God will continue to provide me with the skill sets and drive to succeed wherever he puts me. I have been very blessed to have a job in this economy and have learned to take nothing for granted.

Last but certainly not least is I started to date someone. This has been only the second girl I've dated since I was divorced. There have been other dates here and there but nothing too serious. Her name is Maggie and we met through friends. So far things have been going really well and we are still in the getting-to-know you phase of the relationship so that's always fun. We have a jam packed summer so far with as I mentioned before, a couple of weddings to kick things off. Next weekend we are going to see OAR, one of my favorite bands, and then a Cubs game on Saturday. Sunday is of course father's day and I think I got mom, dad, sis, and George to come down to my place for a BBQ and to hang out for the day. Later this summer I will be.....I......can't........say.........it........30!!!!!!!! Yep the big 30, but I've heard it's the new 20 so I am not too worried. Plus I look GREAT for my age!!!

Time to sign off for now, do a few more things for work and then head off somewhere in the airport to get a beer and people watch. I just saw a little kid dressed as a monkey and his tail was a leash that his dad was holding on to. Not sure why I find it entertaining that some parents treat their kids like pets, but I do, plus the kid was dressed a monkey.

Stay thirsty my friends.....
