It's not even 5 AM in Chicago and we have arrived at Miami Intl Airport just waiting to board and finish the last leg of our trip. Today was probably the worst experience I've had with TSA people and getting through security. Of course the woman says the priority access line is closed and then amazingly we get to the checkpoint and WHOA, nope, priority access is wide open. We then proceed to stand in line with all of the green circle travelers, I know I'm on a soapbox right now but today really almost pushed me over the edge. We had a guy trying to carry coffee thru security, one guy tried to carry 2 of his kids through with belts, shoes, sweatshirts on and then is amazed when he is asked to go through again. One guy decided to take his belt off a bit too early and his pants were a uhhhhhh a bit too big.
A bit earlier in the morning, we landed in Miami at 3 AM Chicago time, this woman was reaming out her husband and it was so funny to me. I felt bad for him but the stuff coming out of this woman's mouth was just hilarious. They hadn't even opened security yet and she was complaining how slow it was, uhhh it was open yet, hint 1 which her husband told her. She then started going on about 9/11 and how if they would have checked for liquids on 9/11 we wouldn't have to take them out of our bags now, so many things wrong with her statement I don't know where to begin. She then goes on to say that if security makes her take her plastic bag out of her bag she is going to let someone have it. It's now been about an hour and this woman's material was just priceless.
I finally made it to security and of course think I'm getting in the faster line only to get in behind this husband wife combo that have 2 jackets each, scarves, duty free, luggage, carry-ons, and personal items. It took them close to 10 min just to strip down and get ready to get through security.
We spent the weekend in Rio De Janerio, Brazil and it was amazing. The weather was so so on Saturday but in the high 80s and sunny on Sunday. Sunday we made it up to see the Christ and I got a ton of pictures so I will be sure to post those when I get home today or later this week. We stayed at Copacabana beach and went to Ipanema beach as well. Since the weather was a little off I was the only one in my suit so I went in the water and the waves were just awesome. The water is so clear I could see my legs/feet the whole time. A far cry from the beaches of Florida and Mexico that I have become accustomed to.
I will post more later, just filling everyone in on the drama of TSA security and the hilarity of some of the people that are out there.
Cheers

Boa Tarde from Brasil
Boa tarde from Brasil.....Boa tarde means good evening. Just got home from our second Brazilian pizza experience and I have to tell you they can make a tasty pie down here. So far the trip has been a great time, yes even though we are here for work. The weather down here is a lot like Chicago summers but it's nice being able to go out in a polo and sunglasses in February and not have on 100 layers of clothing so you don't freeze to death.
We are in the city of Cruzeiro, Brazil for work this week, working at the Amsted Maxion plant. I haven't been in the plant yet as we were scheduled for a tour on Monday but of course due to sitting at the Miami airport for 2 hours for maintenence on the plane we were not able to get into the office on Monday. Work has been going well and quite a few people speak pretty good english here so its been nice to be able to speak to some people, but I have been picking up quite a bit of portugese from our translator and hearing all portugese music and tv. I am going to work on taking lots of pictures here the next couple of days and then TONS when we head to Rio for the weekend.
The hotel we are staying in is a legit 1/2 star hotel. Ants in the bathroom and hotel room, although none on my bed that I've seen yet. Hopefully they won't learn how to climb up there until after I leave, oh well, 2 nights down and only 2 more to go. Really it just took a night to get used to and plus you have to remind yourself there is nothing you can do about it and nothing better in town so you suck it up and deal. They do have western toilets but like China you cannot flush the TP. You have to dispose of it in the can and then they take it out later and burn it all. We have been working out in the gym in Cruzeiro which is owned by one of the women's husband that works at the plant. It's pretty interesting (pics to come later) as they have spin classes, and step aerobics, but then have bikes and weight equipment outside on the patio and under a covering. It's all open air, no AC, so it gets REALLY hot when you workout there.
Food so far has been really good as well. As usual very careful about the water, just drinking bottled water, but the food has been very good. The fruits and vegetables here have been amazing. I know my dad and Grandfather would love the tomatoes down here, with just a pinch of salt.
Well that's about it for now. I will try and update tomorrow or Friday before we head off to Rio. Doubt I will update while in Rio as I will be busy laying on the beach with a Caprihana (tasty Brazilian drink).
Cheers

Quote so far of the week is, "Don't worry, it's not a burn, it will bronze over." People that know me and how 'tan' I get should understand it.

New Year.....New Post
Well it's been quite awhile since I've updated this so guess I have a couple of months worth of updates to put up on here, if anyone is still reading this that is. Guess since the last time I updated this I have since found out I am going to be an uncle come July of 2009, and kind of hoping that the baby is late so we can have 3 August 1 birthday's. That might be kind of cool.
The holidays were good, had some nice time off from work and spent it with the family and got some things done around the city. New Year's was pretty uneventful, had a party at my friends lake house up at Lake Geneva, and then got up at 7 am on New Year's day because the HAWKEYES were playing, and boy did they just shalack Spurrier's Game Cocks. That was awesome!! I got to see my best friend, his wife, and 4 month old daughter for a couple of days, and they are doing amazing (and hopefully staying in Indy forever!) ;)
January was pretty uneventful other than a trip to KC for work, but it was just as cold as it was in Chicago so it was nothing to brag about. Last weekend was the annual Super Bowl boarding and ski trip out in Utah. We went to Sandy, UT which is just outside of Salt Lake City and went to Snowbird and Solitude ski resort and had a great 3 days of boarding. No powder this year so that was somewhat disappointing but the resorts were still so much better than anything in the Midwest.
I know I've been slacking big time on updating pictures and this blog and promise to be better going forward. I leave Sunday for Sao Paulo, Cruzerio, and Rio Brazil for 9 days. I will try and update this Internet connection provided.
On a side note I have decided that most girls I go on dates with are most definitely on the short bus. If you don't know what the short bus is, email me and I will fill you in. It's getting to that point where we need to explore new avenues of dating and that will be some mighty interesting posts I guarantee.
